Mark Leister
Author, Dark Patterns, Deceptive Design, and the Law
Dr Mark Leiser is the author of "Dark Patterns, Deceptive Design, and the Law" (Bloomsbury, 2025) - an in-depth legal and regulatory analysis of the concepts of Dark Patterns and Deceptive Design. He has published several academic articles on the topic, has been cited by the OECD and the European Commission, and has presented at the Nobel Prize Summit. Working with Harry Brignull, he maintains the enforcement database on the deceptive.design website and speaks regularly on the topic at law and UI/UX conferences. An academic/consultant, he works with several orgs to help better understand the "law regulating designers".
