Eric Shumake is a Healthcare UX Researcher and Strategist with over 20 years of experience helping healthcare and digital health organizations design safer, smarter, and more effective products. Based in Denver, Colorado, he has led research initiatives for organizations including Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Novartis, Myriad Genetics, and AliveCor, working across cardiology, oncology, neurology, and genomics.
Eric founded HXRlabs, a healthcare UX consulting and training company focused on accelerating UX maturity within healthcare product teams. He also teaches the Maven cohort-based course Learn Healthcare UX Certificate, where designers and researchers learn to navigate the unique demands of healthcare UX, including regulatory compliance, clinical workflow integration, and patient-centered design. His expertise spans Healthcare UX Research and Strategy, Digital Health, AI in Healthcare, and complex clinical workflow analysis. He holds a Master of Arts in Experience Design from Regis University and certifications from Nielsen Norman Group and Stanford University.
