Paul Kahn

Paul Kahn is an information designer and author whose engagement with visualization of large knowledge structures began with hypertext research at Brown University in the 1980s. Throughout his career he has specialized in visual techniques for describing information. He created the first agency in France focused on information architecture, preceded by a decade leading Dynamic Diagrams in Providence RI, and followed by work as Experience Design Director at Mad*Pow in Boston. His previous books include “From Memex To Hypertext: Vannevar Bush and the Mind’s Machine” (with James M. Nyce), and “Mapping Websites” (with Krzysztof Lenk), as well as contributions to Richard Saul Wurman’s “Information Architects” and “Understanding USA”. His new book “Mapping Knowledge Across Time” grew from a decade teaching history of information design at Northeastern University’s IDDV masters program.
